The truth is, change begins the moment you decide.
You don't need more time; you need a "shift" of your being. Many versions live inside us, each ready to live its life based on the decisions we make. The question is: which one will you access?
One decision — and the entire picture of your life will change instantly.
For this, a single thing is needed: clarity. A moment in which thoughts become detached from ego, from superficial interests, from programs that don't belong to you, from fears and limiting beliefs.
Working with people and organizations that want — at least declaratively — to change, I've come to realize that the theory we usually start from is wrong: people don't need time to change. They need time, arguments, and awareness to accept the idea of change and how it will impact their lives, whether for better or worse. "Better" is sometimes a very relative thing.
Once they reach that point, change becomes instantaneous.
The fact that it is hard to get there is another story. The decision to change, and change itself, is not for everyone. It is for those who understand they can be more, do more, want more. For those who self-examine, who know their weaknesses, who want to become more.
And that takes effort. Whether it's a diet to lose 30 kilograms, a period of solitude to end a relationship that no longer nourishes you, months without a job, or the irritability after quitting smoking.
In organizations, the decision to change is even harder. Because it doesn't belong to a single person, but to an entire team. And the one leading the transformation must be a real leader, an authentic influencer, and above all — an unshakable rock against the emotional pressure coming from those who oppose.
At a subtle, unconscious level, the boss-subordinate relationship is perceived like the parent-child one, on both sides. Are you a good parent if you let your child try drugs because they seem curious, or if you agree to let them skip school because they said they want to hang out with friends?
An exercise in awareness always helps.
Because sometimes, one moment of clarity is worth more than a year of analysis.
