About the role

General Overview Kapital HR is recruiting on behalf of one of its clients – an international law firm with a leading competition law practice – a Competition Lawyer to join its team in Bucharest.

We are looking for a professional with 1–5 years of relevant experience in competition law, interested in working on complex projects for local and international companies and developing their career in a high-performance legal environment.

The role involves participation in advisory mandates related to merger control, antitrust investigations, competition compliance, state aid, and other regulatory matters specific to the business environment.

This position is suitable for a lawyer seeking exposure to sophisticated projects, collaboration with major clients across various industries, and genuine opportunities for professional growth within an international environment.

Key Responsibilities • Providing legal assistance in Romanian and EU competition law matters; • Participating in projects involving merger control filings and notifications to the relevant authorities; • Analyzing competition law aspects related to transactions and commercial operations; • Assisting clients in investigations conducted by competition authorities; • Drafting legal opinions, memoranda, and other relevant legal documents; • Participating in competition compliance and audit projects; • Analyzing legislation, regulatory practice, and relevant case law; • Assessing legal and commercial risks associated with various contractual structures and business initiatives; • Collaborating with lawyers from other practice areas on multidisciplinary projects; • Maintaining ongoing communication with clients and providing legal solutions tailored to their needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications • Law degree and qualification as a fully qualified lawyer or lawyer with relevant experience in the field; • 1–5 years of experience in competition law; • Strong knowledge of Romanian and EU competition law; • Experience with merger control, antitrust regulations, or compliance projects is considered an advantage; • Strong legal analytical skills and attention to detail; • Excellent legal drafting and communication skills; • Advanced English language proficiency, both written and spoken; • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; • Proactive attitude, solution-oriented mindset, and commitment to professional development.
